The inaugural Tinsley Workshop Oct 27-29, 2024 will commemorate the intellectual legacy of our late faculty member Prof. Beatrice Tinsley. The science theme of the workshop is JWST results on galaxies and black holes in the very early Universe, paying homage to her foundational and seminal contributions to galaxy formation. To kick-off the workshop, a public talk by Dr. Jane R. Rigby Senior Project Scientist for JWST will be held on Oct 27, 2024, 4PM at Linsly-Chittenden Hall Rm 102, 63 High St.
Dr. Jane Rigby is a civil servant Astrophysicist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Rigby serves as the Senior Project Scientist for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).
Dr. Rigby was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden on May 3, 2024.
*The public talk by Dr. Jane R. Rigby will be held at Linsly-Chittenden Hall Room 102, 63 High Street, New Haven, CT - across the street from the original location at the Yale Art Gallery on October 27, 2024, 4PM.
The Workshop will be held at Kline Tower on campus in the 14th floor meeting space on October 28-29, 2024.
